Mark Laverman is a freelance photographer specializing in travel & nature photography. Originally from the Midwest, Mark has been an Arizona resident for nearly 40 years. He’s photographed widely in the American West as well as in more than 50 countries on all 7 continents. Mark's images have appeared in numerous magazines and calendars, including Arizona Highways, as well as commercial advertising and communications. His photographs are also included in many private and corporate collections. In 2011, Mark was named Photographer of the Year by the American Advertising Federation Metro Phoenix. The award was primarily for his Gold Addy winning work used in the Arizona Office of Tourism Advertising campaign, One Word Arizona, which was based exclusively on 16 of Mark’s images.

Mark’s love of travel began in 1993 when he first traveled overseas to Nepal. That trip allowed Mark to experience different ways of life firsthand, helping him start to build an appreciation and deep respect for other cultures and peoples around the world. Experiencing new languages, foods, traditions, religions and customs, helped him understand the values and perspectives that shape other communities. Seeing the similarities and celebrating the differences among cultures, travel breaks down social and cultural barriers, ultimately promoting human connection and encouraging a more tolerant and inclusive world.

Mark currently serves as the President of the Phoenix Camera Club and regularly leads photo safaris to Africa.
