Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, photographer Richard Maack developed a love for western history and landscape through the work of photographers like Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Timothy O'Sullivan. In 1981, Maack moved to Arizona, and for almost two decades has been proud to contribute his photography to Arizona Highways magazine, other state and national publications, and to the needs of a busy commercial photography studio catering to a wide variety of corporate clients. In November of 1996, he accepted the position of Photography Editor for Arizona Highways and since has contributed on a daily basis to the magazine whose work was so inspirational to him as a young photographer.
