ABOUT Through Each Others Eyes™
BOARD MEMBERS


Through Each Others Eyes™ is governed by the following Board of Directors:

Errol Zimmerman, president, is a retired educator and active photographer who has documented cultures from Asia to Latin America. His photographic specialty is the culture of Japan, where he lived for two years and where his images have been widely published and exhibited. In 2006 he displayed 50 images from 25 years of photographing the small villages of Sonora, Mexico, as part of Hermosillo’s fotoseptiembre arts celebration. He is the former President of the Phoenix Sister Cities commission, the former director of the International Studies program at Central High School, and the co-founder of Through Each Others Eyes.™

Peter Ensenberger, secretary, retired from Arizona Highways in September 2009 after serving for 25 years as the magazine’s Director of Photography. He is continuing his work as a freelance photographer, as well as teaching photography workshops in some of Arizona’s most beautiful and remote locations. Peter is currently writing a back-to-basics book on photography composition, and keeping his options open for any other photo-related projects that might come along.

John R. Norton, a native Arizonan, was born in Phoenix and graduated from the University of Arizona. He operated farms and ranches in California and Arizona from 1955 to the mid 1990's and served as Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture in 1985 and 1986. An avid amateur photographer for last 25 years, John presently is semi-retired and serves on the Board of Directors of three companies.

Bob Rink, treasurer, served as the city of Phoenix’s photographer for 25 years before retiring in 2005.  He continues to freelance, generally assisting local governments, organizations and non-profits with their photography needs. His photography has appeared in numerous publications, including Arizona Highways, Arizona Republic, Boston Globe, Mesa Tribune, New Times, Phoenix Business Journal, Sunset Magazine, The Oregonian, USA Today, and Washington Post.

Karen Dickinson is a Partner at Quarles & Brady LLP and a skilled negotiator, writer and legal counseler, with extensive experience in both international and intellectual property legal matters.  Karen is Co-Chair of her firm's China Law Group, as well as Co-Chair of the firm's Technology Law Team, and has a passion for photography and international travel. Karen received a cum laude psychology degree from Duke University, and a magna cum laude law degree from Arizona State University.  She was clerk to Judge Mary M. Stirred on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study European Union law working in England and Europe, was chosen as one of the 2008 Top Ten "Centers of Influence" Lawyers by Arizona Business Magazine, and is listed in the Best Lawyers in America.  Karen is currently Chair of the Arizona District Export Council, a member of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council International Leadership Committee and the Board Secretary for the Sias International University Foundation, a non-profit organization supporting the first American-owned university in the People's Republic of China.  Karen is also one of the organizers and Steering Committee Co-Chair for a long-term relationship formed in September 2007 between the Shanghai Women's Organization and the State of ArizonaKaren's own photography can be viewed here.

Marilyn Buehler is a retired educator who has worked with multicultural students in Phoenix for 32 years. A former Arizona Teacher of the Year, Marilyn spent the past 20 years teaching literature in the International Baccalaureate program at North High School in Phoenix. At Central High School, she led student trips throughout Europe and the Greek Islands. She directed students in projects for the homeless and the underprivileged. A native of Kansas, Marilyn completed her undergraduate degree at Washburn University (Topeka), Masters degree at Arizona State University and was awarded an honorary doctorate from Northern Arizona University.

Kim Vandenberg is the Director of Commercial Contracts for Honeywell Aerospace. Her expertise includes all phases of the contract development process, including the drafting, negotiating, and administration of high risk contracts. Kim received a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing with honors and a Juris Doctorate (Law) degree with honors, both from Arizona State University. Kim is a skilled amateur photographer who loves to spend free days taking pictures during her regular travels to Europe and Asia. Kim joined the TEOE board in 2004 with an expertise in fund-raising and community service projects.

Melissa Ho is an attorney practicing in Phoenix, Arizona. When not serving as a criminal defense attorney, Melissa is active with several Arizona Asian Pacific American and Asian communities. Fostering communication between different groups is a passion for Melissa. Melissa believes that communication through photography and the arts is no less important than communication through words and spoken language. It is her hope that groups such as Through Each Others Eyes continue to flourish and enhance Arizona's rich cultural and historical landscape.

Paul O'Neill,who worked for 24 years at the Mesa Tribune (AKA: East Valley/Scottsdale Tribune, has a long-time passion for photojournalism. From 1991-1994 he was the photo editor. He received a journalism degree from California State University, Long Beach. As a filmmaker, Paul has created award winning short and feature length films, as well as commercials, one of which was a Telly Award finalist. The father of two joined Through Each Others Eyes in 2004 and has traveled to Mexico and Japan. He accepted the duties of chairman of the associates in July, 2009. Paul uses his photographic services to help the Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center, a non-profit organization that counsels and assists families dealing with the Autism Spectrum Disorder, and the Center for Humane Living, another non profit where they teach peace through the Martial Arts. Recently, Paul has launched BullyBuffer.com, an interactive website for teenagers to learn about bullying.
