Michael Matlach is a practicing photographer specializing in travel and humanitarian photojournalism. Several highlights of his long and varied involvement in photography include working as a technical assistant on projects for National Geographic and Time and Life Magazines. In 2003, his work was selected from among 10,000 entries for one of four major awards in the inaugural Travel Photographer of the Year competition based in the UK. In addition to freelancing, he leads tours for photographers to India, Vietnam, Myanmar, Bhutan and Latin America. He has developed a true appreciation for diverse cultures and his photography and teaching reflects this passion. Additionally, he serves as the Art Director for “HarmonyWishes”, an electronic greeting card company showcasing imagery that celebrates worldwide diversity.
After living in Colorado, California and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, Michael now calls Scottsdale, Arizona his home. He lives with his wonderful wife, Meg, and two Cairn Terriers, Dharma and Bodhi.
